History of Indian Railway

British came to India for business purpose, in the name of governing they started loots. For transferring the pillage to their fiscal Indian Railway was found.

First Indian Rail - The first railway proposal came in 1832 but the first ever train started its journey in 1837. It runs between Red Hills of Madras and Chintadripet. From 1837 to 1852 every train was a goods train and used to carry building materials, Cotton and vegetables.

First Passenger Train - 16th April 1853  first ever passenger train started his journey from Bombay's Boribandar to Thane. That 14 coaches train was been pulled by 3 steam engines, which travels 34 km distance with 400 passengers.

First Train In East India - In15 August 1854 Victoria Queen started his journey from Howrah to Hooghly. That train was run by East India Company.

First Train in South India - In 1st July 1856 first ever passenger train started his journey from Veyasarapady to Wallajah Road.

First Rail Bridge In India - Bombay to Thane Rail line has been expanded to Kalyan. Because of that purpose First ever Indian Rail bridge was been made over Ullas river in 1854, and it was named Daporie Viaduct. The train service was started in 1855on that line, Fairy Queen was the first train on that path. Interestingly the same train is still running in 2019.

First ever Rail Workshop - The first ever Rail workshop opens in Peramhur of Madras in1856.

First Lighting in the Rail coach - Jodhpur railways first enlightened their coaches in 1897.

First Toilet In Rail - In 1909 the British government introduced Toilet in Railway coach because of a letter by Mr Akhil Chandra Sen.

First Electric Train - From Victoria Terminus (today's CST) to Kurla first ever electric train was started its journey in 1925.

First Ac Coach - British Indian Government introduces first-ever Ac coaches in Frontier mail in 1934. Surprisingly those coaches have been air conditioned not by any Ac machine, they used ice to cool those coaches.

Although Indian Railways was started only for transferring the pillage to their fiscal, it changes everything our society, culture, business, education for our development. The railway is the main transformer of our civilization.

Two most popular questions on Victoria Memorial always ask for, 1) will we ever see the fairy revolving? and 2) why the fairy is not revolving?.
The heart of Kolkata is Victoria Memorial, from all over the globe people come to explore it but its main attraction "Angel of Victory popularly" known as  Victoria's fairy" has lost her heritage.
Before that topic some facts about Victoria memorial.

Now some facts about Angel Of Victory. Kolkata's "Angel Of Victory" poised perkily on the dome of the Victoria Memorial.

Weight- 6.5 Tons

The mechanism stops functioning in 1978 because of a thunderstorm. Although it has own protection system to protect the fairy from a thunderstorm, a bowl full of mercury just below the fairy which helps to do the earthing. But in 1978 it was found the mercury disappeared & years of neglect.. had jammed the bearing. The problem has been located it took four months to fix it. But still, they found another problem, from the time of construction it needed the wind of 15 km to revolve the fairy but now it takes 25 km of wind.  Now one question comes in mind, will we ever get the chance to see it revolving?

             Story Behind Chittagong Armoury Raid.

89 years past still the incident is forever memorable for India and Bangladesh. Under the leadership of Surya Sen(Master da) and IRA forces, the raid was been took place.

The game plan, back up resources and shadow practice everything is done now its time for the action.

65 revolutionary is on a mission.

                                             

                                                    1st phase

18 April 1930, 10:30 at night in the Dhum railway station near Chittagaon some revolutionary dismantled the railway fish plate and derailed one goods engine. the first task has been completed its time for the second.

          

                                                   2nd Phase

To turn off the external connection telephone and telegraph office has been attacked and cut off all the external links. Now its time for the main mission........

                                                   3rd Phase

Army camouflage made it easy for the revolutionary to fool the guards. then bombing on two iron gates and the min raid starts. Looting hundreds and thousands of rifle and lush gun, but alas where is the bullets? then they understood ammunition and bullets are stored in a different place. Now one team's task is to find out the bullets. meanwhile

                                                 4th phase

Mr Surya Sen hosted IRA's flag and established an impermanent government, "Inqualab zindabad" "Bandemataram" slogans were coming from all over the area. by the order of general Lokenath Ball set fire to the building.on the other hand, another team looking forward to the revenge of"Jwaliwanala bagh"

                                               5th Phase

another team attack on the Europian club and looting the Imperial bank. Killed over 50 British army officer and British Government officer. 

Then the British army and police had been alerted and jointly begin firing in the direction of the revolutionaries. 

                                              Final Phase

That's the queue for the team to actually exit plan. they need to get out and get out quick. and they all hide in the dark, and as per the exit plan, they fooled all the guards by sounding from a different area.

That's the way they exit.

They proved they can win against those British forces, and it was an example to the country that our freedom is knocking at the door. Today we are independent because of those people, It's our small gratitude for them.

Civilization taking over the old glory of Howrah Bridge. Old light, old culture, old nostalgia is covering by the dust call civilization.

When it comes to India people talk about two things one the Taj Mahal and Howrah bridge.  Although both of their condition is drowning. Today we only talk about Howrah bridge,  Mr. George Turnbull was the person who dreamed about this . As a chief engineer of east Indian railway, he draws the map and estimated this project is full of challenges like the huge project value and the foundation would be at a considerable depth and cost because of the depth of the mud.

            Keeping this in mind, Calcutta port trust has been found in 1870 and the very next year they approved the project and allotted the project value.

            Some philosopher says “when the storm has passed, put your energy into rebuilding your life.”  Howrah Bridge, the bridge was considerably damaged by the great cyclone in 1874. Interestingly the bridge work finished and inaugurated on this same year and named Pontoon Bridge. But it was only 1528 ft long and 68 ft wide so it was very difficult for any boat to pass on it.

            So again they called up for one another bridge.In 1906 British government pass the bill, unfortunately, it was approved after 31 years .In 1936 Braithwaite, Burn & Jessop construction company started their project of making the world’s first Hanging Iron bridge, and finally, it completed in 1942. since then the Howrah bridges journey started. After a few years, it was named Rabindra Setu.

            From Bullock cart to electric car, from a horse pulling tram to solar power buses everything changes except two, the common people and the bridge itself. standing tall talking about the past the glory everything. Nowadays people becoming civilize and smart but moral less  manner less .pedestrian has the don’t care attitude about the cleanliness notice, they are moving forward but leaving all the garbage’s behind .turning haven into hell, spitting here  and there and taking away the glory and the pride of Howrah Bridge. And the Government does not take any action on it. Now the question arrive how long been we will tolerate and the government will take action?
